How we protect the room
The part nobody photographs.
That photo is what a room looks like a few hours before any colour goes on it, and it's the honest measure of a painter. Anyone can roll a wall. The difference is whether your counters, floors and cabinets look the same on the last day as the first.
- Plastic sheeting over cabinets, counters, appliances and anything built in
- Full floor coverage — canvas drop cloths across the whole working area
- Taped edges on window trim, casings and every line where two colours meet
- Furniture moved and covered, switch plates taken off rather than cut around
- Patch, sand, spot-prime so repairs don't flash through the finish coat
- Daily cleanup — you're not living in an open job site for a week

Every surface in the room.
Most interior jobs are a whole-room package rather than walls alone — fresh wall colour next to yellowed trim usually looks worse than leaving it be. We'll quote it either way.
- Walls — full repaints, single accent walls, colour changes in either direction
- Ceilings — flat repaints and stain-blocking over old water marks
- Trim, baseboard & crown — sanded and recoated so the lines stay sharp
- Doors, frames & closets — taken down and painted properly where it makes sense
- Kitchens & bathrooms — moisture-tolerant products, cut clean around tile
- Stairways, hallways & entryways — the spots that show wear first
- Patching & minor drywall repair — part of prep, not an upcharge

Wall condition
Nail holes and dings are standard prep. Cracks, water damage, failed texture or heavy repairs add real hours before any paint goes on.
Colour change
Deep colour going light usually needs a primer coat plus two finish coats. We price that up front instead of discovering it halfway through.
How much of the room
Walls only is the cheapest version. Ceilings, trim, doors and closets each add surface area and cut-in time.
Access & height
Vaulted ceilings, stairwells and tight spaces mean ladders and staging rather than a straight roll.

How long does it take to paint the inside of a house?
A single average bedroom with walls only is usually a one-day job. Add ceilings, trim and doors and it typically stretches to two. A whole main floor generally runs several days depending on repair work. You get a day count in writing with the quote.
Do I need to move my own furniture?
No. We move furniture to the centre of the room and cover it, and we handle switch plates, outlet covers and wall hangings. Anything fragile, valuable or sentimental we do ask you to take with you first — that's the one thing we'd rather you handle.
Can I stay in my house while you paint?
Yes, most customers do. We work one area at a time so the rest of the house stays usable, and we clean up at the end of each day. If you're sensitive to paint odour, ask about low-VOC and zero-VOC products — they cut the smell down considerably.
Do you patch nail holes and wall damage first?
Yes. Nail holes, dings, small cracks and minor drywall damage are patched, sanded and spot-primed as standard prep — included, not an add-on. Larger repairs like water damage or texture matching are quoted separately, and we point them out during the estimate rather than after we start.
What sheen should I use in each room?
Flat or matte hides imperfections best and suits ceilings and low-traffic rooms. Eggshell and satin are the usual choice for living rooms, bedrooms and hallways because they clean up better. Semi-gloss goes on trim, doors, bathrooms and kitchens where moisture and scrubbing matter. We'll walk through it at the quote.
Is it harder to paint over a dark colour?
It takes more work, yes. Deep colour going light usually needs a primer coat plus two finish coats to get even coverage without ghosting. We factor that in up front rather than discovering it halfway and asking for more money.
